Musical Toilets

Hello from Tokyo where we walked a million miles on our 2Nd day of adventure. We discovered that toilets are musical here. Music plays as soon as you sit down so that no one can hear what you are doing!

We visited downtown Tokyo today with Gucci, Prada and Louis Vutton. Very pricey district to shop in. We also went to the Ueno market by our hotel where Laura bought some souvenirs-trust me, this is not the place to shop if you want to get a deal as there are none!

Weather was very overcast today, but warm and muggy. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 20 degrees, sunny with clouds.

Had sushi for dinner from the local grocery store. Sushi is very expensive here when eating in a restaurant. Most all Japanese food we've eaten so far is very fishy tasting. Today we ate buffet lunch from the 49 floor of a very tall building. We had a super view of the city, the food was good and the cost was quite reasonable.

Tomorrow we go to the Imperial Palace and will try to ride a train out of town to see some non-city sights.

Time to put my feet up to rest.

Singing Toilets and waking up at 5am

Hey there guys,

Did you know that in Tokyo many of the bathrooms in the restaurants SING?????? Ya. Yesterday we went to this department store and the 8Th floor was all restaurants. There was one set of bathrooms for the floor and in the women's bathroom you could make the toilets sing when you flushed them.

This morning I woke up at 5am, i still got 8 hour of sleep though.

Enjoy.

rice green tea and more rice

Just resting in our hotel before we go out for the night. It is like 5:27 and quite nice out. There is so much rice that I don't think that a person would go a whole day without seeing or eating rice. The weather is nice but the sky is really cloudy. All of the restaurants have plastic versions of their food in the windows so that if you don't know what you want or can't read the menus you just go to the window and point at what you want. We went to a festival this afternoon and there were more than 50,000 people there. There are lots of people with dogs and there are bicycles everywhere. You can even buy beer in vending machines.

Got to go out for the evening,

We're here

We are here in Tokyo!!!!!!!! We got in last night and got our hotel and then caught the train here. The train ride was an hour and 17 minutes, the airport is out a ways. We are staying at the New Izu Hotel Tokyo. We have a room with three single beds and a bathroom. It is the worlds smallest and weirdest hotel bathroom. The toilet not only had the french but washing thing but it has a but mist and a seat warmer. Had to turn that last one off, it was too weird. We also have three kimonos and weird slippers.

When we landed in Narita airport the quarantine control people came on the plane all dressed in plastic suits and boots and masks and goggles. They took the temperatures using thermos-graphics sensors and then they collected the papers that we had to fill out saying if we were sick at all. After that we went into the airport and went through customs and them straight to the hotel booking agency. Lots of the people speak like one word of English but at of the workers at the airport were like multi lingual.

by the way it is like 8:27 am here not yesterday.
